AbstractAbout 16 million U.S. wives today run the risk of becoming displaced homemakers. After explaining the economic difficulties a displaced homemaker faces in the no-fault divorce era, Cynthia Starnes proposes a reform, based on ?contemporary partnership law? and a reconceptualization of divorce, that ?will both ease current suffering and encourage future relaxation of gender roles.? I review Prof. Starnes?s analysis of the problem and critique her solution.
