JD Concentration Classes: Environmental and Energy Law

  • Credits for concentration: 18
  • Grade point average in concentration courses of 2.5 is required in order to obtain the concentration
  • Recognition: Certificate and transcript notation
  • To receive the concentration, you must submit an application during spring semester of your graduating year. Applications are due by April 1 of your graduating year.

  • Climate Change Law & Policy
  • Energy Law & Policy

Electives (minimum of 8 credits)

  • Energy Law & Policy
  • Energy Taxation & Policy*
  • Environmental Advocacy & Litigation (previously named Environmental Law Seminar)
  • International Energy Regulation
  • International Environmental Law
  • Land Use Planning
  • Law of the Sea
  • Public Interest Law & Practice**
  • Public Land & Natural Resource Law
  • Any environmental or energy law class with the course subject code LWEV

You may only elect a maximum of 3 credits from the following to count toward the concentration:

  • Energy Law & Policy Clinic
  • Environmental Law Clinic I & II
  • Land Use Clinic I & II
  • Public Interest Law Clinic**

 

Note: Please plan carefully. Some courses have prerequisites. Courses may not be offered each year. Some courses and clinics have limited enrollment.

*Advanced Tax course: Enrollment of JD students must be approved by Graduate and International Programs (WH 207).

**Course only counts towards the concentration if the focus is on environmental or energy law.
