Paul L. Caron

Herzog Summer Visiting Professor in Taxation

Paul L. Caron is a leading tax scholar and teacher. After graduating from Cornell Law School, Professor Caron clerked for Chief Judge William J. Holloway, Jr., of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and then practiced tax law at Sullivan & Worcester in Boston for five years and obtained his LL.M. in taxation from Boston University.

He is currently the associate dean of faculty and the Charles Hartsock Professor of Law at the University of Cincinnati College of Law. Since joining the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 1990, Professor Caron has written over two dozen books and articles. His most recent publications include: Tax Stories (Foundation Press, 2003), Federal Wealth Transfer Taxation (Foundation Press, 2003) (with Paul R. McDaniel & James R. Repetti), "Are Scholars Better Bloggers?," 84 Washington University Law Review 1025 (2006), "Ranking Law Schools: Using SSRN to Measure Scholarly Performance," 81 Indiana Law Journal 83 (2006) (with Bernard S. Black), and "What Law Schools Can Learn From Billy Beane and the Oakland Athletics," 82 Texas Law Review 1483 (2004) (with Rafael Gely). Professor Caron is active in a variety of scholarly projects, including: series editor, Law Stories Series (Foundation Press); series editor, Graduate Tax Series (LexisNexis); editor, Tax Law & Policy (SSRN); editor, TaxProf Blog; publisher and editor-in-chief, Law Professor Blogs Network; and publisher, Leiter's Law School Rankings.

Professor Caron has received numerous awards for his scholarship and teaching, including:
