Areas of Expertise
Professor Voet teaches and writes in the area of intellectual property law.
Professional Experience
Voet’s 35 years of professional experience in intellectual property management include obtaining and maintaining patent and trademark rights, developing and implementing strategies for maintaining product exclusivity, due diligence, acquisitions, in-licensing and out-licensing, establishing joint ventures and developing and participating in litigation strategies and techniques for defense against generic challenges in the pharma/biotech industry. He has served as senior vice president and chief patent counsel at Alllergan in Irvine, Calif.; general counsel and chief financial officer at Nelson Research Company in Irvine, Calif.; associate at the patent law firm of Fulwider, Patton, Rieber, Lee and Utecht in Los Angeles; patent attorney for Shell Oil in San Francisco; and as patent examiner for the United States Patent and Trademark Office in Washington, D.C.
Honors and Affiliations
Voet graduated with honors from George Washington University Law School. He is a member of the California State Bar.
