Kate Kirschbaum

Professor Kirschbaum teaches oral advocacy skills. 

Professional Experience

Kirschbaum is a deputy attorney general in the criminal division at the Attorney General’s Office. She interned at the San Diego District Attorney’s Office, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, and the California Attorney General’s Office. Kirschbaum clerked for the Honorable Larry Burns of the Southern District of California.

Honors and Affiliations

Kirschbaum graduated cum laude from the University of Notre Dame and magna cum laude from the University of San Diego School of Law, where she was a member of the mock trial team. Her team won the regional competition of the Texas Young Lawyers National Trial Competition in 2011. Kirschbaum was also a member of USD's moot court team. She and her partner advanced to the semi-final round of competition at the Jerome Prince Memorial Evidence Competition in 2011, and she received a Best Oralist award. Kirschbaum now coaches USD School of Law's mock trial and moot court programs.
