Pat Libby

Adjunct Professor of Law

Areas of Expertise

Professor Libby teaches advocacy skills and strategies. 

Professional Experience

Libby created and directs the University of San Diego's (USD) Institute for Nonprofit Education and Research, which comprises a master's program, research center, doctoral specialization, and community education programs. She is a clinical professor at USD's School of Leadership and Education Sciences. Libby was president and CEO of the Massachusetts Association of Community Development Corporations (MACDC), which she developed into a nationally recognized model for community development trade organizations. She has taught nonprofit management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of California San Diego, and at San Diego State University. Libby joined USD School of Law in 2012.

Honors and Affiliations

Libby is a member of the National Ethics Standards Committee, Standards of Excellence Institute. The committee is charged with overseeing the national certification process of the institute, which offers an ethics and accountability credential.

Key Works

Libby's publications include The Lobbying Strategy Handbook: 10 Steps to Advancing Any Cause Effectively (SAGE Publications, 2011).
