Professor Carter writes in the areas of American Indian law and legal bibliography and research.
Professional Experience
Carter has written extensively on issues related to law libraries and Native American law. She has directed USD’s Institute on International and Comparative Law in Dublin, Florence, London and Oxford. She joined the USD School of Law faculty in 1987.
Honors and Affiliations
Carter was named a Hertzog Endowed Scholar in 1988 and a USD University Professor in 2001.
Key Works
Carter won national awards for her article "American Indians and Law Libraries” in 94 Law Library Journal 7 (2002). It was later selected as one of 25 essential articles published in the Law Library Journal's 100-year history.She received a grants to create two websites. USD's Native American Website is the first to chronicle the history of the indigenous people of San Diego County, www.sandieg.edu/nativeamerican.
