Professor Smith teaches in the area of negotiations and labor relations.
Professional Experience
Smith is currently director of training and labor relations for Compass Group, the world’s largest food service company. His responsibilities include training corporate managers and executives in an array of business and employment issues. Smith directed operations at the San Diego Food Bank, represented Teamsters Local 542 in labor negotiations and provided food and beverage management for Sheraton Hotels.
Honors and Affiliations
Smith is a former elected official in the County of San Diego and president of the San Diego chapter of the Industrial Relations Research Association. He continues to guest lecture before organizations and universities in the field of labor relations.
