Professor Jelsma teaches in the area of tax law.
Professional Experience
Jelsma is a partner at McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP in San Diego, where he practices in corporate, securities, and corporate financing as well as corporate, limited liability company, and partnership income tax planning, with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions.
Honors and Affiliations
Jelsma was named Lawyer of the Year by The Best Lawyers in America for his work in tax law in 2011 and 2012; one of the "Top Legal Minds in San Diego" by SD Metro in 2011; and a San Diego Super Lawyer in 2011. He served three years on the Executive Committee of the Taxation Section of the California State Bar and is an active participant in ABA tax subcommittees.
