Areas of Expertise
Professor Dostart teaches and writes in the areas of corporate law, executive compensation, and tax law.
Professional Experience
Dostart co-founded the predecessor to Dostart Clapp & Coveney, LLP, where he is currently a partner. His practice calls upon his expertise in taxation, executive compensation, corporate law, strategic planning and tax litigation in counseling many of San Diego County's high technology and biotechnology enterprises. Paul has also co-founded and served on the boards of two significant biotechnology companies, Q3DM Inc. and Vala Sciences Inc. He joined USD School of Law in 2005.
Honors and Affiliations
Dostart has chaired the San Diego County Bar Association Taxation Law Section and Customs Law Section, and he is active in the Business Law Section and the Taxation Law Section of the State Bar of California and of the American Bar Association. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the San Diego Tax Practitioners Club, the Forum for Corporate Directors and the State Bar of Texas. He is also a life fellow of the American Bar Foundation, a fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel, and a diplomat of the American Board of Forensic Accounting.
