Immigrant workers and U.S. citizens alike routinely encounter discrimination in the workplace based on national origin and immigration status. Unfair immigration-related employment practices can also serve as a proxy for retaliating against workers who try to assert their rights. In this program, experienced attorneys take an in-depth look at employer-prohibited conduct under the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), as well as how immigration status might affect employee claims under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the National Labor Relations Act and Wage and Hour laws. Panelists will offer guidance to employees and concrete strategies for employers to avoid common pitfalls.
