Purchasing Guidelines

Software not licensed by the University of San Diego can still be purchased by individual departments for either individual office or lab usage. The following are guidelines for such software purchases:

Requests for software should be forwarded to the Dean by the chair of the department. Pass along any quotes you have obtained and include a memo entitled "Software Request" which states the following:

  • number of software copies needed
  • where the software will be installed (include specific office locations & labs)
  • course names which will utilize the software
  • number of students in each class, if software is for student use
  • also: note whether or not the software will be accessible by students in general (e.g. if it will be put in a public access lab where more than just your department's students will be able to use it.

Based on this, the Dean will see if he/she has the funds to cover the purchase.
