Accessing BES on a department-issued BlackBerry

New BlackBerry

 

  1. Contact June Alemanext. 7500, to pick your wireless provider and select the unit and accessories that you want.
  2. Have an authorized departmental budget approver send an e-mail to June with the department's POETS code and a confirmation of authorization for the $3.00 monthly charge.
  3. A technician will contact you to schedule a time to connect your BlackBerry.

Existing BlackBerry

  1. Contact your department's budget manager to confirm that the department will cover the $3.00 monthly access charge.
  2. Have an authorized departmental budget approver create a ticket with the ITS Help Desk (online, by e-mailing help@sandiego.edu, or by calling 260-7900), requesting BES access for your BlackBerry. The ticket must contain the department POETS. Only June or a departmental budget manager may create the ticket.
  3. Once budget approval has been confirmed, a technician will contact you to schedule a time to connect your BlackBerry.

Accessing BES on a personal BlackBerry

  1. Contact your department?s budget manager to get approval for the $3.00 monthly charge. (We can only accept departmental POETS codes as payment — no third party billing.)
  2. Have an authorized departmental budget approver create a ticket with the ITS Help Desk (online, via e-mail, or by calling 260-7900), requesting BES access for your BlackBerry. The ticket must contain the department POETS.
  3. Once budget approval has been confirmed, a technician will contact you to schedule a time to connect your BlackBerry.
  4. You must notify June immediately when your BES service is terminated.
  5. Telecom cannot port numbers or change any personal plans over to USD's corporate plan. Cellular companies require the owner of the personal plan to make the cancellation.
