Millennium Client Installation Windows and Mac (Library software)

Use the following procedures to install the Millennium client on Windows or Mac OS machines.

 

PLEASE NOTE: You MUST contact the Library Systems Manager prior to the installation to obtain:

·         The appropriate exe or zip file to download (it is dependent on the release version of the software on the Millennium server)

·         The appropriate logins which are unique to each machine. 

 

Steps may vary depending on the operating system and/or the vendor’s web site has changed.

 

All preferences and custom settings for this client are saved on the Millennium server and associated with each login.  Therefore, you do not have to copy/move any files on the machine.

 

1.       Go to http://csdirect.iii.com/

2.       Enter username: usd

3.       Enter password: barbara2

4.       Click on “Downloads” link

5.       Click on “Millennium Environment” link

6.       For Windows:

a.       Click on “Windows” link

b.      Click on the “milup160_02.exe” link

c.       NOTE:  The exe changes depending on the release of the server software.  You must check with the Library Systems Manager.

7.       For Mac:

a.       Click on “Mac” link

b.      Click on “milup160.zip” link

c.       NOTE:  The exe changes depending on the release of the server software.  You must check with the Library Systems Manager.

8.       Download and run the program

9.       If you have not previously installed the environment software it prompts you to enter the server IP address (or DNS name) and create Millennium icons.  Enter: sally.sandiego.edu as the IP address.

10.   Once you have a Millennium icon, you will need to update it so that the system launches to the appropriate module within Millennium (i.e. Circulation, Cataloging, Acquisitions, Serials, etc.). 

11.   For Windows:

a.       Right-click on the shortcut icon

b.      Click on Properties

c.       Enter the following in the Target box after “iiirunner.exe”: space, username={username}, space, password={password}

For example:  …iiirunner.exe username=mbcirmo password=mbcirmo

d.      Apply and Save.

e.      NOTE: Contact the Library Systems Administrator for usernames and passwords.  These are different for each workstation.  Generic usernames should never be used.

12.   For Mac:

a.       Go to FinderàGoàHome

b.      Find Millenniumàiiirunner

c.       Right click on iiirunner

d.      Click on Show Package Contents

e.      Open Contentsà Info.plist

f.        Search for the line: "<key>lax.command.line.args</key>"

g.       Immediately after this line, the following line contains the command line arguments starting with "<string>" and end with "$CMD_LINE_ARGUMENTS$</string>"

<string>ip=sally.sandiego.edu port=2000 username=xxxxx password=xxxxx "workdir=/Users/xxxxx/Millennium" $CMD_LINE_ARGUMENTS$</string>

 

h.      Enter to following after the port number: space, username={username}, space, password={password}

 

For example:  …port=2000 username=mbcirmo password=mbcirmo …

 

i.         Save and close

13.   Launch the client to test the login.  You should either get prompted for initials and password, or it should open up the client automatically (depending how the Library Systems Manager has set up the login)
