Tidebreak

What is Tidebreak?

TeamSpot Logo ButtonTidebreak is a company that specializes in creating engaging, interactive environments that enable groups of people to easily explore ideas. Tidebreak produces two primary software packages: TeamSpot and ClassSpot. Both packages enable users to work together on a shared common screen, using their keyboard and mouse to control it. TeamSpot is for groups of 10 or fewer, and allows users to share items directly on another’s computer. ClassSpot is designed for large-group interaction. In both cases, users can:

  • switch easily between main screen and their own laptops
  • rapidly integrate their contributions with a shared result
  • Save result to their laptops and archive

Why do I want it?

Collaborating on projects using Tidebreak software enables participants to collaborate more effectively and efficiently on projects. The software encourages group discussion, greater transparency of parallel work in group editing so everyone is encouraged to contribute equally and without duplication of effort.

  • Students have more opportunity to share supporting data, draft content online references while formulating their thoughts. This opens the door to interactive discussion and better buy-in of the end results
  • Teams can work in parallel to finish faster than working alone.
  • Avoid extended e-mail exchanges, or text messages I resolving issues together in real time.

ClassSpot & TeamSpot at USD

Currently there are six installations of TeamSpot and one installation of ClassSpot throughout USD campus. Both ClassSpot and TeamSpot can be used within computer labs with the installed software. Additionally, TeamSpot can be used in smaller collaborative areas such as those within the Student Life Pavilion.
