What is Social Networking?
Social networking refers to:
- online communities of people who share interests and/or activities, or who are interested in exploring the interests and activities of others.
- Most social network services are web based
- Users interact by using e-mail and instant messaging services.
- Examples of social networking are specific products such as Facebook, Twitter, and more general products within the categories of Wikis & Blogs.

Social Networking at USD
- Up-to-date information and campus event postings are now finding their way onto USD sponsored locations within social networking sites such as FaceBook and Twitter.
- Some sponsoring groups include: The University of San Diego, USD SOLES, USD Alumni Association, USD Law School, USD Supply Chain Management Institute, USD Career Services, USD School of Nursing and many others as well as special student groups too numerous to list here.
