NROTC 3D ShipProfessor: LT Jeremy Grouette
Department of NROTC
STA: Erik Kostka and Joey Edwards
Semester: Spring 2008 and Fall 2008

Project Overview: Organize Joint NROTC Warfare Club event with a designed simulated battle in Dangerous Waters.

The purpose of this project was to create a Naval Science Lab to reinforce Seamanship, weapons systems, and naval operational principles taught in Naval Science courses.  This involved creating 3D ships, developing and editing of specific scenarios for the simulation.  Using current PC technology and Commercial Off-The-Shelf programs (COTS) a practical learning experience for Navy Midshipmen was provided. Project scope changed during the Fall somewhat to include modeling of the ship’s bridge using several hundred photographs taken on a visit to the USS Sampson for that purpose. The first practice ship control room has been designed.
