*Before You Arrive*
ITS has put together a special version of our SecureConnect tool to make sure your computer is ready to connect to our wireless the moment you arrive at USD. Visit secureconnect.sandiego.edu/offcampus and start the process today!
When you run the SecureConnect tool, your computer will download our SafeConnect application and save your username/password for accessing wireless. When you come to campus, your computer will automatically join our 'usdsecure' wireless network without any additional steps.
Please note that you must have a working antivirus program on your computer to connect to USD's network. Click on "Antivirus" in the left column for more information and a FREE download link.
Any questions or problems with the SecureConnect tool? Contact the ITS Help Desk for assistance!
Antivirus
The University of San Diego provides students a free copy of Symantec Endpoint Protection, which you can download at our Antivirus Download Page. The ITS Help Desk can assist students with the installation of these programs and any required un-installation of previous programs unwanted by the user. We do not currently recommend the use of Norton 360 Antivirus/Security Center as it often conflicts with our network configuration and users often experience difficulty connecting to the internet.
If you're bringing your own antivirus program to campus, check our list of supported antivirus programs and make sure it's supported before you arrive!

Computer Repair
Having problems with your computer? Not to worry! The ITS Help Desk is here to help troubleshoot and repair computers for all on-campus resident students for free! We can remove viruses, speed up slow systems, troubleshoot internet problems, even coordinate Dell/Apple warranty requests.
Bring your computer in to the ITS Help Desk, located in Hahn University Center room 117 (near One Stop Services). You can view our current walk in hours on our Hours/Location page.
Living off campus? All our services have competitive rates for off campus students.
Computer Specifications
Buying a new computer, or just wondering whether your computer "makes the grade"? Check out our knowledge base article on minimum computer specifications to learn more. If you're interested in a new computer, you can also check out new student deals at the USD Torero Store.
Gaming
Need a break from studying? Our USD wired network allows you to use all major gaming consoles from your residence hall room. All gaming consoles need to be connected to the wired port in your room - wireless is not supported for these devices. We've put together some tutorials specifically for gamers:
- How to connect a Nintendo Wii
- My Xbox 360 says I'm behind a "Strict NAT"
- Connecting PS3 to Wired Network
- Supported and unsupported devices on the Wireless
Experiencing any problems? Need an Ethernet cable? Contact the ITS Help Desk for assistance.
Labs
The University of San Diego has several computer labs throughout campus allowing students to access the internet, use Microsoft office and other specialized class software, print documents and much more. Additional information pertaining to computer lab locations, hours, and services may be found at the Computer Lab website.
MySDMobile

Can't find your class? Need to email your professor? Want to know the score of the big game? Maybe you're late for class and lost on campus? You'll be glad to learn MySDMobile solves all of these issues.
Use the MySDMobile suite of applications to find contact information for faculty and staff at USD, find your way across campus, and keep tabs on news, scores, and schedules for all your favorite USD athletic teams. You can search the library for a text book, even view the tram's location in real time!
The MySDMobile application is available for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch devices with iOS 3.0 or greater, or for all Blackberry devices. You can learn more and download the application at my.sandiego.edu/mobile. If you have an Android or unsupported mobile phone, you can visit m.sandiego.edu in your phone's web browser.
Phones in Resident Halls
For students living on campus, individual residence hall rooms are not equipped with telephones or telephone numbers. Emergency and hallway courtesy phones can be used in an emergency to contact USD's Office of Public Safety by dialing 2222 or 911. If you are interested in having a phone for your suite, please read our Informational page on Resident Hall Phones for more information and for instructions on requesting installation.
Printing
The University of San Diego offers many on-campus printers located in the libraries and computer labs, payable with your Campus Cash card. Students can print in any of our ATS computer labs and the libraries.
If you bring your own printer for your resident hall room, please make sure you can connect to it directly with a USB cable. Printers in the resident halls are unable to connect to the wired or wireless network.
Need ink? Check out the USD Torero Store's affordable Ink Cartridge Refil Service.
Teamspot
Teamspot is a program which allows for student collaboration and file sharing on a big screen monitor in the first floor of the UC, the Serra 205 Computer Lab and in the Olin Hall lounge. Teamspot is perfect for group projects and presentations. You can learn more at our iTeam's Teamspot Informational Page.
