Frequently Asked Questions for Email:Exchange

How large of an attachment can I send via e-mail?

The total size of a message when sending, including any attachments, may not exceed 25MB.

This applies to Exchange Mail, and Torero Mail. Any messages larger than 25MB (total size of the message including any attachments, pictures, etc) will be rejected by the server. The server will generate an error which will be sent back to your inbox to let you know that the file was too large.

Some organizations may have their incoming attachment size limit set higher or lower than 25MB, so while our server may allow you to send a 25MB message, the receiving server may still reject it due to limitations on their end.

Our server currently allows for up to 25MB when receiving email, so if a message exceeds this total, the sender will receive a failure of delivery message.

Why am I Receiving an Error Changing My Password on Exchange Website (OWA)?

If your Active Directory (AD) password has expired, you may be prompted to change your password when you log in to the Microsoft Exchange (OWA) website.  If you visit http://exchange.sandiego.edu and log in with your expired password, you will see a white page with boxes for your username, old password, and new password.

If you need to change your password on this page, please add @ad.sandiego.edu to your username.  For example, if your username is joe, type joe@ad.sandiego.edu in the box.

Please make sure your new password is not a repeat of an old password you have used, is at least 8 characters long, contains a letter/number/symbol, and is not based on a dictionary word.
