ITS is working closely with the College of Arts and Sciences to make the migration process as seamless as possible.
The ITS team consists of Mike Somerville, Zack Thawley and Kirk Bennett, Kevin Baily, Nail Cho, Sebastian Allen (Desktop Techs), and the lead technician Matt Mueller (Help Desk Support team). Working closly with Associate Dean Anne Sturz, we intend to properly communicate and synchronize efforts in order to complete the migration in a timely manner.
We need your cooperation in order for the project to be completed on time. The success of the migration requires a) the proper forms to be signed and returned; and b) scheduling a time for technician(s) to migrate and transfer your e-mail.
The migration process for new hires varies somewhat. Please refer to the New Hire Migration Process documentation for additional information and instructions.
Please follow these steps in order to get your e-mail migrated to Exchange 2007:
- Make sure that you have an AD (Active Directory - what is this?) account. In order for an AD account to be created,
an AD Account Request Form (download here – PDF)
must be submitted to Amanda Goodrich in ITS. Only
the following sections of the form need to be completed:
- Page 1, Section One. Be sure to have the supervisor sign the form.
- Page 4. Read and then acknowledge the ITS Guidelines and Policies.
- Schedule a time through Anne Sturz with the technician assigned to your area to migrate your e-mail.
- Contact your departmental contact, Associate Dean Anne Sturz, with any questions about the migration process.
- Once the migration is complete, on-site training may be offered, depending upon the size of your area, to answer any remaining questions you may have about using Exchange 2007. Please see the Training Schedule for times and locations.
To reduce the amount of time that your migration will take, we recommend that:
- E-mails prior to January 1, 2009 remain in your current e-mail client, stored on your computer as an archive.
- The migration time may vary, depending upon how many e-mails need to be migrated.
