SERVICES & POLICIES
Which courses are taught via our program?
We conduct workshops on courses supported by USD and standard licensed software.
We conduct courses based on attendance: if a course attendance drops two consecutive terms, we then eliminate it from the list of our workshops.
How to Register for Classes
-
Online Registration Help: We have step by step instruction on how to self register. You will receive a notification three days prior to class meeting.
-
Register for Tutorials: Once you decided on seminar you would like to attend, this link will take you to our online registration link. You will need your University of San Diego Unet account username and password to register for any of our tutorials online. You also have the option of calling extension 4810 to register.
-
Cancel Tutorials: If a conflict will prevent you from attending a seminar, please be sure to cancel your registration 48 hours in advance. We have a wait list for some of our popular sessions, we print documentation for some classes and an instructor volunteers the time to offer his/her technical expertise to our program. For all listed reasons, we appreciate your effort in notifying us. You can cancel classes online by logging in to the online registration area and click on the registered course and then click on the "Cancel My Registration " button, or by simply calling extension x4810 .
Registration Limits
You can attend as many classes as you would like at no cost to you or to your department. However, please pick no more than three courses at a time that suit your schedule. If you would like to attend more than three classes, please call to sign up for these classes at a time closer to the dates of the workshops to ensure your attendance.
Cancellation of Attendance
Registrants are responsible for attending workshops. Cancellations must be made either online or by calling extension 4810, at least 48 hours prior to the workshop or training event.
Please note, we reserve the right to cancel a class if the attendance has less than three participants.
Once you register for a course, an automated confirmation is delivered to you via email. In addition, a reminder is also emailed two days prior to the class meeting. In spite of this, we have issues regarding "no shows." It is very important that you mark your calendar for classes that you sign up for and call to cancel if you are unable to attend so that our volunteer instructors can plan accordingly as well.
We need your help in cutting unnecessary costs. When registrants do not show up at a workshop, it results in wasted printing costs, speaker costs, and employee's labor time. It also prevents someone else on a waiting list from attending.
Reasonable expectations
Remember that it takes more than a short three hours to learn a software package.
When learning new software, we recommend that you take a course more than once and preferably with different instructors to learn different aspects of the topic that each instructor may choose to cover. Different presentation styles can bring to light different facets of the same subject.
Often times we attend a class and then don't have the time to use the knowledge we acquire. In this case we are bound to forget much of what we learn in no time! To retain the new information, it is best to follow it up with a practice session on your own shortly after attending a workshop.
Our intention is to get you started as quickly and efficiently as possible with an overview of the software. Our classes are broken down into introductory, intermediate, and advanced levels to help place you into the proper pace for your needs.
Prerequisites
In an attempt to ensure that students attending classes together come into the class with a similar knowledge base, we have created additional prerequisites for some of our classes. Classes are more beneficial for all students when they can progress through the material at a similar rate. Workshops may also have multiple sessions. If a workshop has multiple sessions, you are expected to attend all workshop sessions to avoid being behind with topics discussed in earlier sessions.
Additional support
Once you attend a class, you can call or email us with your specific questions or issues regarding software functionality.
