Director of Institutional Research & Planning

Paula S. Krist, PhD, is Director of Institutional Research and Planning at the University of San Diego and a member of the California Association for Institutional Research board. She is a member of the President’s Cabinet, the University Assessment Committee, the Strategic Planning Oversight Committee, and the WSCUC steering committee for USD. She regularly serves on accreditation review committees and advises PhD candidates through committee membership. At USD, she regularly works with both academic and student affairs, helping conduct assessments, analyzing data, and interpreting results.

Dr. Krist has been a consultant to many institutions of higher education, domestic and international. She is regularly invited to present at academic and professional conferences.

Her first position at USD was Assistant Dean for Assessment Support at the School of Leadership and Education Sciences. Prior to coming to the University of San Diego, Dr. Krist was the Director of Operational Excellence and Assessment Support at the University of Central Florida and the Director of Institutional Research and Assessment and a visiting Assistant Professor at Florida Institute of Technology. In these roles, Dr. Krist provided leadership in all university level Institutional Effectiveness efforts and worked closely with the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning (FCTL).
