Students have the option to study in Guadalajara, Mexico, for an entire semester through an exchange program with Instituto Technológico y de Estudios Superiores de Occidente (ITESO) or for six weeks during the summer. Semester Exchange with ITESO

Academic Program
This program is offered through an exhange with ITESO in Guadalajara. Established in 1957, ITESO is a private Jesuit university and one of Guadalajara's leading institutions of higher education. The USD/ITESO semester exchange program is ideal for students majoring in Spanish or those whith a primary interest in improving their Spanish-speaking skills. Because this is an exchange program, students are able to use their USD financial aid for two semesters of study at ITESO. Courses are comparable to those offered at USD, with many offerings in the Arts and Sciences. Students are required to take a minimum of 15 transferable units per semester.

Eligibility, Applications, and Deadlines
Proficiency speaking in reading and writing in Spanish is required for the program, as well as a minimum GPA of 3.0. Students must have completed Spanish 301 (or equivalent) to apply. Students must apply through the International Studies Abroad Office, located in the International Center in Serra 315. Living Arrangements
Students will live with a host family arranged through USD. Living with a host family offers a hospitable environment that enhances the classroom experience. Students often establish lasting bonds with members of their host families while enjoying the opportunity to meet local students who are studying at ITESO.


Expenses
Tuition for this program is the same as for full-time, on-campus attendance at USD and is paid directly to USD. Estimates for program fees and personal expenses can be obtained from the International Studies Abroad Office located in the International Center in Serra 315.
