Returning from Abroad

Welcome Back to USD!

We hope you enjoyed your time abroad. For many students, returning home from a study abroad experience can be just as challenging as studying abroad. The USD International Center strives to make the transition back to campus as smooth as possible by offering a variety of ways for returning study abroad students to continue to remain engaged with their study abroad experience.

There are many opportunities to share your study abroad experience with others informally as well as formally through programs such as the Study Abroad Peer Advising Program and the International Buddy Program. View the links on the left to learn more information about how to remain involved in study abroad upon your return to campus.

Additionally, each year, the USD Office of International Studies Abroad actively participates in the Lessons From Abroad Re-Entry Conference and returning study abroad students are strongly encouraged to participate in this conference.

International Buddy Program

The International Buddy Program originated in the International Center as a student mentor program designed to help international students who are attending the University of San Diego ease into student life and to keep USD students connected with their international experience. This program is committed to pairing international students with an experienced and committed USD student who can help them adjust to living in a new city, and to meet, mix with, and learn from other USD students. The goal of the International Buddy Program is to enrich the international student’s experience abroad and to create a truly global community.
