International Opportunities Grants for Staff and Administrators

Description
The fundamental purpose of the International Opportunities Grant program for staff and administrators is to "internationalize" the USD campus by exposing staff and administrators to different cultures through foreign travel and encourage the development of professional relationships abroad. The Committee will evaluate proposals on the strength of their connection to the international mission of the university and to the perceived benefit towards increasing a staff member’s international understanding. The Committee will look at how the international experience is applicable to the staff member’s area of expertise and professional development within their field.

Selection Criteria
The primary criterion of judgment will be the excellence of the proposal and the thoughtfulness given to its applicability to the international mission and goals of USD.

Eligibility
All full-time USD staff and administrators are eligible to apply.

Amounts of Funding
The Committee could fund up to a maximum of $4,000 per person for each proposal (average funding for the last round of grant recipients was $1,850). Repeat funding is possible. In the event there are funds remaining, the committee will consider additional requests.
