A key issue for many interchurch couples is how they will approach
the religious upbringing of children, should they have them. Interchurch
couples face difficult questions when deciding about the religious
upbringing of children. Will the children be raised in both parents'
religious traditions, or will they be raised in only one religious
tradition? If only one, which parent's religious tradition will
it be? This unit will discuss various options that other interchurch
couples have tried, as well as the potential strengths and limitations
of each approach. Like the decision to change or not to change
religious affiliation discussed in the last unit, there is no right
or wrong answer with regards to the religious upbringing of children.
You must decide which approach works best for you and your family.
