Here is a list of some of the events taking place on and off campus throughout the weekend. Click on links for more information.
Friday, Nov. 6
Knowledge Transfer Program: The latest Knowledge Transfer panel discussion focuses on entrepreneurship. The featured panel consists of James W. Brennan ’96, Gregg Clifton, USD Trustee Barrie Cropper, Siri Fomsgaard ’03 and Rich Yousko ’87. This event, a joint effort of the Office of Parent Relations and the USD Parents Association, takes place at 2 p.m. in Mother Rosalie Hill Hall’s Warren Auditorium.
Conversations in the College: The College of Arts and Sciences hosts a monthly event in which three speakers, one each from humanities, natural science and social science, talk about their ongoing scholarly work. The program, from 3-5 p.m. in the Shiley Center for Science and Technology’s room 133, features Leonora Simonovis (languages and literatures), Perla Myers (mathematics) and Del Dickson (political science). A reception follows the program.
Women’s Swimming: TCU vs. USD at San Diego State, 3 p.m.
Men’s Soccer: Portland at USD, Torero Stadium, 7 p.m. General admission tickets are $5.
Women’s Basketball: Exhibition — San Diego Christian at USD, Jenny Craig Pavilion, 7 p.m. General admission tickets are $5.
Women’s Soccer: USD at Portland, Ore., 8 p.m.
Chamber Music Concert: Musicians, including USD faculty member Alyze Dreiling on the violin, will perform selections including Beethoven’s “Serioso” Op. 95 and Debussy’s Quartet in G minor. Concert starts at 8 p.m. in Founders Hall’s French Parlor. Tickets available at the door: $10 general admission; $8 seniors, USD faculty, staff and alumni; and $5 for students with valid ID card.
Friday Movie Night: A free screening of the movie, “Twilight,” will be shown at 9 p.m. in the Student Life Pavilion’s Plaza Mayor. The weekly event is provided by Associated Students.
Women’s Swimming: Idaho at USD, noon.
Torero Football Tailgate: Prior to USD’s Pioneer Football League game, fans can attend a party with traditional barbecue food, sodas, beer and wine. Tickets are $15 for the first adult, $10 each additional adult and $5 for children ages 12 and younger. Call (619) 260-5917 for more information.
Football: Davidson at USD, Torero Stadium, 1 p.m. Tickets are $12 for reserved seating, $10 for general admission adults, $8 for general admission children (ages 4-12).
Women’s Volleyball: USD at San Francisco, 1 p.m.
SOLES Remarkable Leaders in Education: The School of Leadership and Education Sciences honors five educators from San Diego and Imperial counties for its third annual induction ceremony. This year’s inductees are John D. Anderson, Constance Carroll, USD School of Law Professor Robert Fellmeth (pictured), Barbara MacNeil and Dorothy L.W. Smith. The ceremony is from 4-6 p.m. in Mother Rosalie Hill Hall’s Warren Auditorium. Tickets are $15 individual, $25 per couple.
Men’s Basketball: Exhibition — Occidental at USD, Jenny Craig Pavilion, 6 p.m. General admission tickets are $5.
Saturday Night Live Concert Series: Christian Garcia will perform a free concert in the Student Life Pavilion’s Plaza Mayor beginning at 7:30 p.m. This event is sponsored by the Associated Students.
Sunday, Nov. 8
Farmers’ Market: Meet in front of the Hahn University Center to be transported for free by bus to the Hillcrest Farmers Market between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. For more information, contact Brett Faulknor at (619) 260-4709.
Rowing: USD men’s and women’s crew teams at San Diego Fall Classic, all day, Mission Bay.
Men’s Soccer: Gonzaga at USD, Torero Stadium, 1 p.m. General admission tickets are $5.
Mass: Founders Chapel offers services at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.
