The University of San Diego hosts the Eighth Annual Summer Chamber Music Festival from June 30 to July 7, bringing the sounds of Mozart, Igor Stravinsky, Aaron Copland and others to its beautiful campus.
Directed by Dr. Angela Yeung, the festival provides a unique opportunity for musicians of all ages. The youngest, born in 2005, is just eight years old. Festival coaches are faculty from the USD Music Department and members of the San Diego Symphony.
News to this year’s festival is an exciting collaboration with the San Diego Youth Symphony’s Community Opus Project, making it possible for 14 youngsters from the Chula Vista Elementary School District to participate in the festival. With more funding, Yeung said they hope to help even more students from Chula Vista and also the Sweetwater School Districts participate in next summer’s festival.
