Class of 2011 Graduation Ceremonies Conclude

The final two graduation ceremonies for the University of San Diego’s Class of 2011 take place today at Jenny Craig Pavilion.

The undergraduate College of Arts and Sciences students are celebrated beginning at 9 a.m. The ceremony includes Commencement speeches from CAS Valedictorian Haley Pittman and from retired veteran television broadcaster Larry King. Also, this year’s recipients of the Alcala Award, given to a graduating male and female student for overall excellence at USD, will be announced.

Immediately following the ceremony, the College of Arts and Sciences will host a graduation reception in front of the Hahn University Center.

The School of Business Administration and Engineering Programs graduates comprise the final graduation ceremony at 2 p.m. Students will hear Commencement speeches from Business Valedictorian Alexa Tierney and also from Donald Knauss, chairman and CEO of The Clorox Company. Immediately following the ceremony, the School of Business Administration hosts a graduation reception in front of the Hahn University Center.

At the completion of today’s events, approximately 2,250 USD students from law, graduate schools and undergraduates will have earned their degree. The School of Law Commencement took place on May 14 and the Graduate Schools (School of Leadership and Education Sciences, Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science, Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies, College of Arts and Sciences, School of Business Administration) ceremony was held on May 21.
