Initiatives

Real Talk: Diverse Perspectives

This initiative is designed to bring specialists whose work explicitly engages matters of diversity and inclusion in some significant way to USD to share their diverse experiences, ideas, and knowledge. We bring active and productive scholars, teachers, writers, artists, and activists who will want to continuously contribute to our campus. These specialists will be available to all at USD who wish to interact with and learn from them. The structure of this initiative includes a signature event, as well as the creation of smaller, more informal opportunities to interact with our honored guests. These interactions can include but are not limited to seminars, workshops, formal classes and informal discussion groups.

USD Just Read

Each year, the Center for Inclusion and Diversity, along with many other USD departments and centers, partners with the Black Storytellers of San Diego, Inc. to choose a book for a campus and community-wide read and discussions focusing on issues such as race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, religion, privilege, oppression, and inequality.

Films

The Center is a place that is devoted to thinking about how people, places and things differ and by what means we identify these differences. As such, we sponsor a number of films a year that engage students and community members through this medium. We present visual lessons of inclusion and diversity that are central to the mission of the University of San Diego through film.

Sweet Celebration @ Suite 225

During the academic year, the CID welcomes all to join us every Wednesdays for delectable desserts between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. This is a great way to meet other students, faculty, staff, and community members!
