About the IESI

IESI Mission

The mission of the Institutional Effectiveness and Strategic Initiatives (IESI) office is to demonstrate USD’s commitment to: student learning and success; high standards of quality and effectiveness in all of our educational activities; and institutional integrity, sustainability, and accountability.

These three areas of commitment are visible in the goals of our Envisioning 2024 strategic plan, in which USD will set the standard for an engaged, contemporary Catholic university by the year 2024, and are consistent with the values of our regional accreditor, the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC).

We serve the USD community by:

  • Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting evidence of student learning to assess and improve student learning and teaching;
  • Supporting program review and student learning assessment, including the assessment of Core Curriculum learning outcomes;
  • Providing exemplary Information Technology Services that enhance teaching and learning, support research and collaborations, facilitate outreach, and foster strategic partnerships.
  • Implementing USD’s strategic plan, Envisioning 2024; with direct oversight of the Mulvaney Center and anchor initiatives and the Changemaker Hub.
  • Integrating USD’s strategic plan, Envisioning 2024, with important institutional quality processes (e.g. accreditation, assessment, planning, and budgeting); and by
  • Overseeing our institutional accreditation with the WASC Senior College and University Commission, and USD’s next full review scheduled for 2021.
