MA in Counseling
Shelley Barajas-Leyva, M.A. is a native San Diegan. She has been a proud TRiO Administrator since 2008, and is currently the Director of the USD TRiO McNair Scholars Program -- a program that is dedicated to preparing first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented students for doctoral study through involvement in research and scholarly activities. Shelley holds a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from SDSU and a Master's in Counseling from USD's School of Leadership and Education Sciences. In addition to her work with USD McNair, she is a Trainer/Consultant for the National Conflict Resolution Center where she teaches conflict resolution skills to community leaders nationally and internationally, in both English and Spanish. Shelley enjoys salsa dancing, singing karaoke, and spending time with her amazing husband. As a TRiO alumna, Shelley feels honored to be a part of USD's Institute of College Initiatives, and credits a great part of her academic and career success to TRiO.
