The Department of Human Resources is dedicating to providing resources and guidance in support of the University’s active commitment to equal opportunity, affirmative action, and diversity. We strive to promote and sustain policies and practices that will ensure equity for the university community and compliance with all federal, state, and local employment and civil rights laws.
We work closely with the Office of Institutional Research and the General Counsel to prepare the university’s annual affirmative action plan and to communicate with administrative departments regarding their equal employment opportunity and affirmative action obligations. We also serve as a resource to hiring managers and department chairs across campus to strategize recruitment processes and procedures that not only comply with equal employment opportunity mandates, but also cultivate a diverse applicant pool. We are also available to discuss training opportunities in the areas of discrimination and sexual harassment for interested departments on campus.
We also receive and investigate employee complaints of discrimination, harassment, and inequity. We take these concerns very seriously and address them in an objective and respectful manner. Throughout the investigative process, we endeavor to honor the rights and dignity of all parties involved and preserve confidentiality to the extent permitted by law. We are also charged with monitoring the university’s compliance with Title IX regulations and we receive any complaints, questions, or concerns regarding Title IX process and procedures.
