Bereavement Leave (Staff and Administrator)
Family Leave
The university provides leave for qualified employees in accordance with state and federal leave laws. Please click on the following items for additional information on your rights and responsibilities, the doctor’s certification form, and a summary of your leave benefits with USD. Employees planning for a family leave should contact Human Resources. Employees not eligible for FMLA or CFRA will be granted leaves in accordance with any other legal requirements governing the specific type of leave, in accordance with the university’s established leave policies and practices, and with consideration for current business needs.

The University of San Diego supports breastfeeding mothers by providing a private, comfortable room for nursing. It is open to all students, staff and faculty free of charge. The room comes equipped with a glider, changing table, sink and cleansing supplies. Hours are Monday through Thursday 7am -11pm, Friday 7am – 10pm, Saturday 9am - 10pm, Sunday 9am – 11pm.
