Shift & Language Differentials
A shift differential may be paid to certain classifications of employees upon approval by the Vice President for Business Services & Administration. Approval of shift differential will be based on industry practices and department needs. Shift differentials are 10% of base pay.
A language differential of 5% may be paid, with the concurrence of Human Resources, for a position which requires oral and written fluency in a language, in addition to English, as an essential part of the position.
Upon promotion and/or upward reclassification, an employee will receive a pay increase to the minimum of the new range. The department may grant an increase up to the first quartile of the new range. Upon consultation with Human Resources and with the approval of the appropriate vice president, the increase may exceed the first quartile. For more information, see: Job Analysis and Classifications.
