Health Tips & Education

Health and wellness mean more than absence of disease. Establishing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle while studying at USD is important for academic performance and enjoyment of life, as well as achieving other goals. The health tips and links provided here will introduce you to several key wellness resources.

In addition, the medical staff at the Student Health Center provides a number of services to support students in their efforts to enhance and sustain their health and well-being, including well-woman check-ups, immunizations, infection screenings and other preventive health measures. The health educator provides individual and group programs specially designed to help students improve eating and exercise behaviors, quit smoking, handle stress, improve sleep habits, decrease infection risks, and promote awareness of other important health behaviors and issues. Plans for fitness services (such as athletic training, personal training and massage) through Campus Recreation are being developed for fall semester 2006.

To schedule a medical appointment for a wellness check-up, please call (619) 260-4595 during Student Health Center office hours. To contact the health educator directly to set up an individual consultation or to request a group health education program, please call (619) 260-7706. The massage therapist is now available through Campus Recreation.
