Immunizations
USD is committed to creating a safe environment for its students. To achieve this goal, we strongly recommend that all students be immunized to protect themselves and others from vaccine-preventable illnesses before they begin the academic year.
Required Immunizations and Screening
The University has recently instituted a policy requiring certain immunizations and screenings for ALL freshmen, transfer, international students, and anyone living on campus. Failure to submit proof of required immunizations will result in a hold on registration for classes. Click below for:

Getting Your Immunizations & Screenings
- The Student Health Center offers all of the required or recommended immunizations & screenings for a fee to cover the cost of the vaccine. The fee must be paid at the time of service. PLEASE NOTE: The SHC cannot accept or bill your health insurance. Click here for a list of fees for specific vaccines & screenings offered at the Student Health Center.
- Additional voluntary immunizations are recommended and available at USD. Learn more about these 'voluntary vaccines' by clicking here.
- To use private health insurance, students need to contact their insurance company to see IF the immunizations or screenings are covered, AND to find a participating provider off-campus for these services.
