Important Information for New Students

Entering a new university setting can be challenging.  The Student Health Center is here to help students perform well academically & maintain optimal health throughout their college experience and beyond.  Here are some reminders & tips to help you get started:

Immunizations & Screenings

Click here to see which immunizations & screenings are mandatory.  Additional vaccinations are strongly recommendedBefore registering for classes, new students must submit health care provider verification for immunizations & screenings required by the University.

Insurance Recommendations

Health insurance is not required in order to receive treatment in the Student Health Center, however it is highly recommended to cover off-campus medical care costs .  The University is not responsible for off-campus medical care (e.g., emergency room visits, X-rays, other labs, visits to medical specialists, etc.) and ancillary services.  Read more about your options & sign up for health insurance if you don't already have adequate coverage.

Services available at the Student Health Center

Be sure to visit the Student Health Center soon after you arrive on campus so you know where it is located.  Besides "being there" for you when you are ill, the SHC has services, health information & a knowledgable staff eager to help you stay well!
