Financial aid is also available to USD students in the form of loans. Students should proceed as follows:
1. Download and fill out the Financial Aid Application for Summer Study Abroad Programs and turn it in to the Financial Aid office in Hughes 304.
2. Download and fill out the Refund Deposit/Release Form. If you have asked for financial aid that will cover additional costs aside from housing and tuition, such as spending money, you need to go to student accounts and fill out a “Deposit Release Form.” When the check comes in from your loaning institution, student accounts takes out enough money to cover the housing and tuition costs for the program. Any leftover money will create a refund check, which will stay in student accounts unless you tell them what to do with it. A “Deposit Release Form” does just that. By filling out the form, you are telling Student accounts to release the money to you in one of the following ways: 1) Student accounts will manually mail the check, with a deposit slip, to your bank where it will be deposited into your account, 2) Mail the refund check to a location that you specify, or 3) Designate that you would like the check to be picked up by a specific person at the Student Accounts office.
**Please keep in mind that if your loan does not come in by the deadline, you need to get a referral for deferment from the Financial Aid office. Then, take this referral to Student Accounts where they will give you an official referral form to sign.
