MADRID SUMMER PROGRAM
After 46 consecutive years of programming the Guadalajara Summer Program is forced to relocate this summer. With the advent of the Swine Flu outbreak last week, Dr. Lyons activated the university Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) and the International Center administrators have been in meetings all week with various individuals and committees to determine what course of action we will need to take both on campus and abroad.
In meetings and discussions with the Provost and staff from the International Center and the CIRT Advisory committee we determined that the best course of action would be to relocate the program this summer and pursue a contingency plan in another Spanish speaking country. In the past week the International Studies Abroad team has been working diligently to assess the best possibility for relocating the program. After many hours of deliberations and negotiations with providers and partner institutions abroad we have determined that the best option all around for this program will be MADRID, SPAIN.
Relocating the program to Madrid, Spain, is allowing for an exciting, new opportunity for students to attend one of the most prestigious institutions throughout all of Europe. Madrid in the summer is a vibrant metropolis and is also one of the safest cities in the western world. We have 120 students confirmed to attend this program and have reopened enrollment. We encourage you to take advantage of this unique opportunity.
