Breana Clark

Breana Clark, GSC Chair

Breana is a second-year student in the Higher Education Leadership MA program in the School of Leadership Educational Sciences. She was born and raised here in San Diego and obtained her undergraduate degree from San Diego State University. She received her bachelors in Child and Family Development, with a concentration on family and behavioral psychology. 

Before coming to USD, Breana worked for the YMCA of San Diego County; spearheading both before and after-school programs and teen programs, focused on civic engagement, academic preparedness, and a myriad of other special topics. In addition to her GSC role, Breana works on campus in the Center for Inclusion and Diversity under the supervision of the Tribal Liaison as a graduate assistant. In addition, she is the communications director for the New Professionals and Graduate Student knowledge committee for NASPA and is a member of various committees on campus. In her free time, she likes to attend comedy shows and catch an open mic night to display her own comedy chops, listen to podcasts, and attend festivals around the city.

Mariana Ortega

Mariana was born and raised in Los Angeles, particularly in the city of Bell Gardens. She completed her undergraduate career at the University of California, Irvine, with a BA in Literary Journalism. Mariana is now completing her graduate work at the University of San Diego in the Masters in Higher Education Leadership program. She serves as a full-time Community Director in San Buenaventura. Having experience working under both housing and admission at UCI gave her the opportunity to help and share her own experiences with a wide range of prospective students. Mariana thrives to help students achieve academic success and is happy to be working with Graduate Student Council to support and serve the graduate population at USD. During Mariana’s spare time, she loves exploring coffee shops and going on hikes.

Irma Gonzalez

Irma is in her second year of the Master's in Higher Education Leadership program within SOLES. She also works in the Office of Student Affairs as the executive assistant to the Dean of Students. Irma is a San Diego native and grew up in the Linda Vista area, not too far from USD. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Southern California, receiving a bachelor's degree in International Relations. Irma is excited to serve as the Communications and Operations Coordinator for GSC and is looking forward to working alongside her fellow graduate students to make this a memorable and productive year!

Mariann Sanchez is the Interim Coordinator for Graduate Student Life. She has been an employee at USD since 2004. Mariann serves as the Administrative Ex-officio (advisor) to the GSC. She completed her Masters in International Relations at USD.  Mariann also helps over see the operations of the Graduate and Law Student Commons in SLP 401. Yuri is from Tokyo, Japan and received a BA in Sociology from the University of British Columbia. Yuri is a second-year graduate student in the SOLES Master's Higher Education Leadership program. She is the Graduate Assistant for Graduate Student Life and serves as an ex-officio (advisor) to the GSC.
