Rama Sabano

Rama Sabano, GSC Chair

Rama is a second-year International student in the Higher Education Leadership program through the School of Leadership and Educational Sciences. She is from Syria, and was born and raised in Kuwait. Rama attended the American University of Kuwait for her undergraduate studies, and graduated with a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. She went on to working within Student Affairs (Admissions & Student Life) for a few years before moving to San Diego to pursue a Master's Degree in Higher Education. In addition to her GSC role, Rama works in the Student Leadership Involvement, and Changemaking area as the Graduate Assistant of Student Organizations and Involvement. Rama is planning to continue working within Student Affairs post-graduation. In her free time, she likes to take photographs, work out, go to the beach and hike. 

Jesse AlvarezGSC Vice Chair

Jesse is a second-year student pursuing a joint degree in International Relations and International Law. He grew up as a third-culture kid to a Peruvian father and an American mother, was born in Lima, Peru and raised in Lima as well as in Rancho Cucamonga, California. He completed the full International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma program at a British secondary school, Markham College, in Lima before taking a gap year in Paris, France where he studied French intensively at the Alliance Francaise and worked as a marketing intern at a church parish Eglise Kerygma. Jesse then completed his BA in Political History at Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California. Afterwards he worked full time as a Latin American-Spanish Social Media Specialist at Activision-Blizzard Environment in Irvine, CA before coming to USD. Jesse is trilingual in French, Spanish and English and aspires to work full-time in the future as a Political Track Foreign Service Officer/Diplomat for the U.S. Department of State and is also interested in becoming an international lawyer.

Alejandro is from San Diego, earned a BA in Sociology from the University of San Diego and is currently a second year graduate student in the MA Leadership Studies Program. People are fascinating and Alejandro enjoys working and meeting people of diverse backgrounds to learn more about how we can connect across our differences. Alejandro looks forward to serving the USD graduate student community.

Mariann Sanchez is the new Interim Coordinator for Graduate Student Life. She has been an employee at USD since 2004. Mariann serves as the Administrative Ex-officio (advisor) to the GSC. She completed her Masters in International Relations at USD.  Mariann also helps over see the operations of the Graduate and Law Student Commons in SLP 401.
