| Message | ![]() Join the University of San Diego for the Kyoto Laureate Symposium featuring the 2010 Arts and Philosophy Kyoto Prize Laureate William Kentridge. William Kentridge, visual artist, writer, dramatist and filmmaker, will speak about his unique artistic genre that blends drawing, film, philosophy and political commentary. A lifelong human rights advocate in South Africa during the wrenching transition from apartheid, William Kentridge grew up witnessing extremes of injustice, reconciliation and change. Symposium guests will hear him dissect what he refers to as “stone-age filmmaking,” which The New York Times has referred to as “dazzling,” “enthralling” and “devastating.” For more information, visit www.sandiego.edu/kyoto.
