San Diego Union Tribune -- Sam Hoekstra knows the depth of despair and the height of euphoria. In fact, he experienced both emotions returning punts Saturday afternoon for USD in its 31-24 victory over Drake at Torero Stadium.
Hoekstra fumbled away a first-quarter punt that led to the game’s first points. He came back in the fourth quarter, however, for an 85-yard punt return for a touchdown that was the difference in the game.
“When I initially dropped it I was down on myself, but my teammates came up to me and told me to keep my head up because they needed me in this game,” said Hoekstra, a sophomore from Santa Fe Christian High. “I had to get back up and make that punt return, and that’s what I did. (Full Story)
