Drop Shadow

Message to Employees

Dear Members of the USD Community,

Fortunately, the region’s unprecedented Blackout is now behind us. Classes will resume and all offices will reopen as scheduled on Monday, September 12. However, the USD campus itself will reopen tomorrow, September 10, for all previously scheduled campus activities.

As a result of today’s campus closure and as a courtesy to our students, we have extended several important fall deadlines to Tuesday, September 13:

  • Add or drop classes without a ‘W’
  • Request a full 100 percent tuition refund, and
  • Add a class for which you are currently on the approved “Wait List”

While many offices are closed today, dining services is fully operational, and Residential Life staff members are available to offer students their full support. USD’s Copley Library is open and will maintain regular business hours throughout the weekend.

We have encouraged both residential and non-residential students to take part in any number of this weekend’s campus activities. If you are able, please join the campus community at tonight’s Men’s Soccer game against the Penn Quakers. The game kicks-off at 7pm on the Walter E. Zable Field in Torero Stadium. The Torero Football team will host its first home game of the season against Western New Mexico University on Saturday at 6pm.

Unfortunately, today’s 9/11 Memorial Mass and Panel Discussion were canceled, but other remembrance events will proceed as scheduled. On Sunday, there will be a display of flags around the KIPJ memorial and a 5pm screening of “The Power of Forgiveness” in the KIPJ Theatre, concluding with special prayers at the 7pm and 9pm Masses in Founders Chapel.

To learn more about these and other campus events, please visit the USD Events web site. For a complete list of all student activities, visit the Torero Life web site.

Have a safe and enjoyable weekend.
