Alex Ching Selected WCC Men's Golfer of the Year

USD Toreros -- The West Coast Conference released their annual golf awards today and USD junior Alex Ching (Honolulu, HI) was named the WCC Player of the Year. Ching becomes the third USD student-athlete this season to earn this recognition, joining Ali Troost (volleyball) and Patrick Wallen (men's soccer). Ching, who recently tied for first at the 2011 WCC Championships, also won medalist honors in two fall tournaments (Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic and Wolf Pack Classic). Currently ranked 22nd in the nation, he owns a stroke average of 71.05 for 35 rounds. This marks the third straight year for Ching to be honored on the All-WCC First Team.
"Alex has had a great year placing 1st three times and totaling nine top-20 finishes from 11 events," said head coach Tim Mickelson. " That is a tremendously successful and consistent season and I'm glad he was recognized accordingly for his efforts. (Full Story)
