Melissa Wagoner is director of media relations at the University of San Diego, where she works with the School of Peace Studies, the School of Leadership and Education Sciences, the School of Law, and the College of Arts and Sciences. She also teaches a course at USD for the Political Science and Communication departments called "Politics and Media Inside the Beltway." Before joining USD, Wagoner was spokeswoman and press secretary for Senator Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts in Washington, D.C. She worked on a range of national issues including education, health and labor, and all local issues relating to Massachusetts. Wagoner also produced an award-winning monthly cable access program shown throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. In addition, she worked on the Democratic National Committee conventions in Boston, Massachusetts, and Denver, Colorado, as well as Kennedy's 2006 re-election campaign.
