While it manifests itself in many forms, the student educational experience at the University of San Diego is, above all else, a journey: one where the path to intellectual discovery and personal fulfillment leads to new perspectives, new understandings, new skills and ultimately, new directions.
And as I reflect on this past year at USD, I am once again inspired by the remarkable initiatives and achievements of our wonderfully talented and motivated students, by our gifted faculty who guide and mentor them, and by our dedicated staff and administrators who work each day to ensure our students’ progress. The past year has witnessed an array of creative research projects launched, courageous problem-solving strategies implemented, significant benchmarks achieved and well-deserved honors and recognition bestowed.
Just another year of educational excellence at USD? Perhaps. Do we take our continued progress at USD for granted? Never.
Amid the university’s rising national rankings and reputation, our commitment to the USD student experience remains paramount. We recently rededicated ourselves to six strategic directions to focus our goals for USD’s future: enhancing our students’ learning and outcomes; supporting our faculty’s teaching and research; expanding our global connections and impact; advancing our Catholic character and outreach; increasing our constituents’ participation and engagement with the university; and ensuring the institution’s financial sustainability.
