Pope Francis

Pope Francis

Since his election in March of 2013, Pope Francis has captivated the attention of people around the globe in an unprecedented manner. The first non-European Pope in a thousand years, the first-ever Pope from South America, the first Jesuit Pope, and the first Pope to adopt the name Francis, he has generated remarkable interest, perhaps most notably exemplified by Time Magazine designating him as the person of the year.  During the fall of 2015, as he visits the United States, discusses his encyclical on the environment, convenes the second session of the synod on the family and launches the extraordinary year of mercy, Pope Francis will continue to be featured in the news.
