Italian ProgramCore Curriculum ProgramThe typical student begins in Italian 101 and progresses to Italian 201. However, some students with a strong background in Italian may begin with Italian 102. Students who have completed Italian 102 at any college or university prior to enrolling at USD may satisfy the language requirement by taking only Italian 201. Note: Please read the placement policy of this department before enrolling in your first Italian class at USD. We are very pleased to offer students the opportunity to take Italian 201 in Perugia with a USD instructor in a special summer session. This course makes it feasible to complete the Core Curriculum requirement in a single academic year with the added benefit of cultural immersion in Italy. It is also excellent preparation for the minor. Minor ProgramWe offer two options to students who would like to minor in Italian. Italian 102 + 201 + 202 + 301 + 2 other upper-division classes Option 2: 12 units of upper-division courses. With the above restriction in mind, students are encouraged to participate in a study abroad program for a semester or a year at our affiliated programs in Florence (for art students only) or Milan. Learn the guidelines for participation in non-affiliated programs by viewing "Other Study." Download Petitions for Transfer of Credit here.
