Students must be awarded Federal Work-Study through their 2018-2019 Financial Aid award to be eligible to apply for the positions listed.  All positions are available for the academic year (fall and spring semesters) and located on the USD campus, unless otherwise noted.  The start date and weekly schedule will be determined at the time of hire.  Most positions offer the opportunity to work 10-15 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters.  Students may be considered for positions with additional responsibilities and higher pay rates, depending on their skills and experience.

School of Engineering

Job Title: Engineering Assistant
Pay Rate: $11.50/hour
Office Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30 am-6:00 pm

Required: Federal Work-Study included in 2018-2019 Financial Aid Award               

Responsibilities:

  • Organize and conduct a basic inventory of EE, ISyE, ME Labs, Computer labs and machine shop
  • Beginning abilities understanding and writing simple spreadsheets and databases. Will train.
  • Organize engineering record keeping
  • Assist in writing, collating and distributing engineering documents
  • Some monitoring of Engineering Students during “OPEN LABS”
  • Stock simple items such as stick pins, staples, scotch tape, printer paper and general office supplies
  • Clean and organize the EE, ME, and or ISyE labs-clean whiteboards, clean benches, etc.
  • Assist EE, ISE, and ME technician and Machine Shop Manager with Lab Maintenance as requested

Graduate Admissions (Intersession & Spring 2019)

Job Title: Student Assistant
Pay Rate: $11.50/hour
Office Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 am-5:00 pm, minimum of 1-2 hour blocks

Responsibilities:

  • General office duties, data entry, database searches, secondary receptionist, filing, campus errands, processing mail and scanning
  • Manage office during department staff meetings
  • Front desk shifts welcoming all campus visitors and fielding inquiries
  • Specific projects will be assigned by supervisor to assist staff in department operations

Kroc School of Peace Studies

Job Title: Office Assistant
Pay Rate: $11.50/hour
Office Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 am-5:00 pm, occasional evening opportunities, not mandatory.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary reception for all visitors and callers to the Academic Programs Suite
  • Provide office operational maintenance support
  • Daily tasks will include but are not limited to: clerical work such as copying, scanning, filing; providing assistance to visitors; invitation & brochure design (no prior experience needed); routing program inquiries and providing input on various projects

Mulvaney Center for Community, Awareness, and Social Action

Job Title: Van Driver
Pay Rate: $11.50/hour
Office Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 am-6:30 pm

Required: Federal Work-Study included in 2018-2019 Financial Aid Award               

Responsibilities:

  • Provide transportation for Youth Engagement Initiative tutors (USD students hired to tutors) to and from their site. A Mini-van will be used to provide transportation
  • Light office work includes delivering time sensitive documents to on campus departments, answering phone, data entry, etc.
