Students must be awarded Federal Work-Study through their 2018-2019 Financial Aid award to be eligible to apply for the positions listed.  All positions are available for the academic year (fall and spring semesters) and located on the USD campus, unless otherwise noted.  The start date and weekly schedule will be determined at the time of hire.  Most positions offer the opportunity to work 10-15 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters.  Students may be considered for positions with additional responsibilities and higher pay rates, depending on their skills and experience.

Ethical Development and Restorative Practices

Job Title: Office Assistant
Pay Rate: $11.50/hour
Office Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 am-5:00 pm

Responsibilities:

  • Providing coverage for the front desk: answering multi-line phone and greeting all visitors
  • Scheduling online and in person student appointments for Assistant Deans
  • Picking up and/or dropping off documents around campus, including mail on a daily basis
  • Handling confidential information (including, but not limited to student files) such as filing student charts. Student employees will be required to become FERPA certified by completing an online tutorial as well as adhere to additional relevant confidentiality practices (training provided)
  • Providing clerical assistance which will include: faxing, copying, filing, scanning etc
  • Maintaining office cleanliness and organization
  • Conduct Database Updating in Maxient and Appointment Plus
  • Supports Graduate Assistant for Student Conduct as needed

Office of Financial Aid

Job Title: Scholarship Student Assistant
Pay Rate: $11.50/hour

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Scholarship Assistant and Scholarship Coordinator with various clerical duties as necessary
  • Tasks to include filing, copying, and scanning/indexing of scholarship award information
  • Process receipt of all Scholarship Questionnaires, assist in the maintenance of scholarship board postings and website listings
  • Assist with organization and maintenance of endowed and annual scholarship files
  • Work on special projects as required by the Office of Financial Aid

Graduate Admissions

Job Title: Student Assistant

Instructional Technology Services

Job Title: Media Assistant
Pay Rate: $11.50/hour
Office Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:50 am-7:00 pm, minimum 2.5 hour shift

Responsibilities:

  • Answer phones and inquires from library patrons as they relate to the Audio Visual Circulation Desk and Classroom equipment
  • Check in and check out audiovisual equipment, reserve equipment and assist faculty, staff and students with audiovisual equipment needs and operations
  • Properly fill out, file checkout and reservation equipment forms, and accurately enter that information into the Circulation Desk computer system

International Center

Job Title: Student Assistant

Responsibilities:

  • Assist International Studies Abroad Team
  • Answer general questions about international options
  • General office assistance as needed (copies, running errands, filing)
  • Update application database (StudioAbroad)
  • File student applications & course transfer evaluations
  • Participate in study abroad recruiting functions and classroom presentations
  • Assist with maintaining social media networks (Study Abroad Facebook page, Twitter, etc.)
  • Create and hang flyers, posters and other marketing materials
  • Create videos and commercials for marketing purposes as needed
  • Direct, film, and edit short video files for on-line marketing campaigns
  • Assist with advising sessions with students (as needed)
  • Assist study abroad advisors as needed
  • Assist students and guests by answering questions, directing students/guests to appropriate contact in International Center
  • Desk coverage / phone coverage
  • Keeping inventory stocked (brochures, flyers, magazines, water, cups, etc.) and organized (bookshelves, chairs, bulletin board, student computer area)
  • Be informed of when staff leave International Center or office to provide correct information to guests/phone calls requiring their assistance

Kroc Institute for Peace & Justice

  • Assist with building events, as needed and directed, with supervision
  • Work reception desk; provide support including answering the telephones, returning calls, taking messages, greeting and assisting clients/visitors/guests
  • Filing, copying, faxing, scanning, making signs, collating, on-campus deliveries & errands
  • Familiar with software including but not limited to Microsoft Office suite components (Office, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher) training will be provided
  • All student assistant will be scheduled specific times to be the department telephone operator. Training and mentoring for this job will be provided
  • Kroc School Collaboration – helping with similar work (with direct supervision) in all Kroc School units is expected when required

Mulvaney Center for Community, Awareness, and Social Action

Job Title: Student Assistant
Pay Rate: $11.50/hour
Hours Needed: Approximately 3-10 hours per week; must be flexible in work hours; usually daytime hours, but some work during dead hours, evening and weekends for concert performances (as needed in very rare instances.)
