Students must be awarded Federal Work-Study through their 2018-2019 Financial Aid award to be eligible to apply for the positions listed.  All positions are available for the academic year (fall and spring semesters) and located on the USD campus, unless otherwise noted.  The start date and weekly schedule will be determined at the time of hire.  Most positions offer the opportunity to work 10-15 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters.  Students may be considered for positions with additional responsibilities and higher pay rates, depending on their skills and experience.

Jenny Craig Pavilion

Job Title: Student Assistant
Pay Rate: $12.00/hour
Office Hours: Monday-Friday, hours vary

Required: Federal Work-Study included in 2018-2019 Financial Aid Award 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance to all events and work areas within Athletic Facilities
  • Setup and tear down of athletic contests and other events, including picking up trash
  • Monitor usage, enforce rules and maintain cleanliness of the McNamara Fitness Center
  • Interact with campus patrons, campus officials and community guests and provide excellent customer service
  • Answer Phones
  • Assist with office operations
  • Sell tickets and handle cash
  • Projects for various intercollegiate athletic teams and departments
  • Game day video operations such as filming, scoring or replay
  • Provide feedback to professional staff
  • Other duties as assigned

Mulvaney Center for Community, Awareness, and Social Action

Job Title: Van Driver
Pay Rate: $12.00/hour
Office Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 am-6:30 pm

Responsibilities:

  • Provide transportation for Youth Engagement Initiative tutors (USD students hired to tutors) to and from their site. A Mini-van will be used to provide transportation
  • Light office work includes delivering time sensitive documents to on campus departments, answering phone, data entry, etc.

Mulvaney Center for Community, Awareness, and Social Action

Job Title: Tutor
Pay Rate: $12.00/hour
Office Hours: Monday-Friday, between 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm timeframe

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate After School Program, serving 20 eligible children K-5th grade at onsite residential community setting for three housing units
  • Spend 10 hours a week engaging with onsite staff and participants
  • Ensure prompt and consistent attendance and arrange substitute hours if necessary
  • Establish consistent relationship with the organization and the population you work with at your site
  • Attend all training meetings and in-service during semester
  • Maintain communication and problem prevention with the USD Volunteer/Work-Study Coordinator
  • Collaborate with student-leaders in liaison with USD Volunteer/Work-Study Coordinator and support staff
  • Maintain communication with parents, guardians, and families of the students served
  • Develop and implement enrichment, project based learning opportunities and academically focused curriculum for students ranging from K-5th grade
  • Help with program records, evaluation materials, and other program documentation as needed
