Students must be awarded Federal Work-Study through their 2018-2019 Financial Aid award to be eligible to apply for the positions listed.  All positions are available for the academic year (fall and spring semesters) and located on the USD campus, unless otherwise noted.  The start date and weekly schedule will be determined at the time of hire.  Most positions offer the opportunity to work 10-15 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters.  Students may be considered for positions with additional responsibilities and higher pay rates, depending on their skills and experience.

Ethical Development and Restorative Practices

Job Title: Office Assistant
Pay Rate: $11.50/hour
Office Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 am-5:00 pm

Responsibilities:

  • Providing coverage for the front desk: answering multi-line phone and greeting all visitors
  • Scheduling online and in person student appointments for Assistant Deans
  • Picking up and/or dropping off documents around campus, including mail on a daily basis
  • Handling confidential information (including, but not limited to student files) such as filing student charts. Student employees will be required to become FERPA certified by completing an online tutorial as well as adhere to additional relevant confidentiality practices (training provided)
  • Providing clerical assistance which will include: faxing, copying, filing, scanning etc
  • Maintaining office cleanliness and organization
  • Conduct Database Updating in Maxient and Appointment Plus
  • Supports Graduate Assistant for Student Conduct as needed

Instructional Technology Services

Job Title: Media Assistant
Pay Rate: $11.50/hour
Office Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:50 am-7:00 pm, minimum 2.5 hour shift

Responsibilities:

  • Answer phones and inquires from library patrons as they relate to the Audio Visual Circulation Desk and Classroom equipment
  • Check in and check out audiovisual equipment, reserve equipment and assist faculty, staff and students with audiovisual equipment needs and operations
  • Properly fill out, file checkout and reservation equipment forms, and accurately enter that information into the Circulation Desk computer system

Kroc Institute for Peace & Justice

Job Title: AV Assistant 
Pay Rate: $11.50/hour
Office Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am-8:00 pm, min 2 hour time block

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the setting up, operating, breaking down, maintaining, and inventorying the Audio Visual equipment
  • Assist with theatre event recording
  • As needed, consult with Operations staff and/or clients, and participate in event planning meetings to become fully aware of audiovisual requirements and coordinate resources appropriately
  • Assist, with supervision, daily operations of Kroc Operations work area and facility including but not limited to cleaning, room setups (physical labor), organizing, changing light bulbs, printing & putting up signs, etc. as requested and directed
  • Assist with building events, as needed and directed, with supervision
  • Work reception desk, providing support including answering the telephones, returning calls, taking messages, greeting and assisting clients/visitors/guests
  • Filing, copying, faxing, scanning, making signs, collating, on-campus deliveries & errands
  • Familiar with software including but not limited to Microsoft Office suite components (Office, Excel, Access, Word, Power Point, and Publisher) training will be provided

Kroc School of Peace Studies

Job Title: Office Assistant
Pay Rate: $11.50/hour
Office Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 am-5:00 pm, occasional evening opportunities, not mandatory.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary reception for all visitors and callers to the Academic Programs Suite
  • Provide office operational maintenance support
  • Daily tasks will include but are not limited to: clerical work such as copying, scanning, filing; providing assistance to visitors; invitation & brochure design (no prior experience needed); routing program inquiries and providing input on various projects

Mulvaney Center for Community, Awareness, and Social Action

Job Title: Van Driver
Pay Rate: $11.50/hour
Office Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 am-6:30 pm

Responsibilities:

  • Provide transportation for Youth Engagement Initiative tutors (USD students hired to tutors) to and from their site. A Mini-van will be used to provide transportation
  • Light office work includes delivering time sensitive documents to on campus departments, answering phone, data entry, etc.
